Hi, I’m Geoff Tucker and I’m writing this Social Media Marketing blog as a way to share links with fellow marketers also in job search mode. I am posting links to great articles on personal branding, resume writing, news about the current economic crisis and generally trying to become a good resource for the people in my network. I have tried blogging in the past but never found a subject that mattered enough to me to write about it regularly.
I have been a professional marketer for over seven years, primarily in B2B companies but more recently focusing on B2C audiences. I am learning more and more about social media, social networking and how to use these latest technologies to transform how we communicate, how we do business and how I am using them in my own life. I also freelance for web design and marketing tactics.
The Book
I am currently at work on my first book, Beginner’s Social Media. It will be a workbook targeted toward those who want to learn how to use social media effectively to get what they need, whether it’s a job, an expanded network, or a community of like-minded experts. I anticipate publishing in March, 2010, while I also develop a new blog and web site to support much of the material in the book. Stay tuned for more.
The Background
I am a Southerner (from Arkansas by birth, then early in adulthood I spent 13 years in Tennessee), who relocated to Seattle in 2005. I lost the accent people tell me. I miss the food and familiarity of home and great friends, but not the humidity and mosquitoes.
